The second collection – Come Home Love

The first collection represented the connection between our root and nature. Here we would love to share the other stories about daily life around dining table, we call it “Mái ấm gia đình” – “Come Home Love”.

Lai Thieu is a region of Binh Duong Province, where appeared as South-East Asia’s central ceramics market around the beginning of the 20th century and where a lifetime of skills passed down from one generation to the other. Here are the jars my mother used to stock salt, spices, pork lard (that was used for cooking instead of oil) on the kitchen shelves or cooked rice, hot soup on the dining table. It’s 7 o’clock in the evening, when the news program on television starts, we have dinner together at home.

It will be a missing piece of our tales from the Orient without Bát Tràng’s pottery. This small village is located in the north side of Vietnam, where the experts keep their hands and heart for their heritage from the ancients. Our father got a chance to meet and talk with a potter. He told our father about the drawings on these containers that directly inspired the artists from their backyard where they have chickens and fishes.

We wish you have a good day. Throwback to the time when I was visiting my parents and friends after 3 years, there was a soft peaceful feeling inside me while seeing a small house with a banana tree in its garden. I shared that story to the potters and then they recreated again the scene by their language for us.

Telosma cordata is a species of flowering plant, individual blooms emerge successively over a period of weeks emitting a rich, heavy fragrance during the day and night and in Vietnamese, it is called Thiên Lý. It’s my mother favorite flower because of the wonderful dishes from it. In Vietnam, we connect with flowers and nature through our senses and we get comfortable with the taste. Sometime my mother cooks delicious dishes for my father with this flower at evening, they drink tea, and talk how’s their day been going so far.

When we were about 5 years old, we learnt how to predict the weather based on natural indicators, in this case, the dragonflies. It’s going to rain if dragonflies fly at a low altitude; it’s going to be sunny if they fly at a high altitude and it’s going to be cloudy if they fly at a medium altitude. In Vietnam, lotus is known as an exquisite flower, symbolizes the purity, serenity, commitment and optimism of the future as it is the flower which grows in muddy water and rises above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty. We bring to you “Ghé chơi” – a visit between dragonfly and lotus.

Vietnamese people have considered the lotus as a symbol of beauty overcoming darkness. It reaches through the mud and grime to show off its color and shape to the world. These blossoms have long been linked to Buddhism, nobility, and pure thoughts.

In a south side, we call our siblings as “Anh Hai” – big brother, “Chị Hai” – big sister, “Chị Ba” – middle sister and “Em Út” – the youngest one. We fight sometimes because of the small problems but in the end, we still support each other. It’s the meaning behind our coconut cutlery set.
