The third collection part 4 – Ordinary Joys

Living in another country gave us a second home, a second family, a place where we have been growing up and appreciating to meet every single person. We enjoy not only the big things but from the small things also. This part names “Những niềm vui bình dị” – “Ordinary joys”. If we named the first collection with Vietnamese – our mother tongue, this part we are pleased to call the new things by Hungarian, our second home language.

“Egy, kettő, három, négy

pontyka pontyka hová megy?”

“A család az első.”

When trouble comes, it’s your family that supports you. In this house, we have the biggest fish as a big brother – “báty” who protects his family, the second biggest fish as an older sister – “nővér” – who takes care of everyone, the small fish as a younger sister – “húg” – who loves being around her beloved ones and the smallest fish as a little brother – “öcs” – who is innocent and loves learning new things every day.

“A felhők fölött mindig kék az ég.”

Swallow for us is the symbol of spring. When we hear their song and we see the blooming flowers, we know that our heart flutter again into a sweet season.

“A boldogság olyan pillangó, melyet ha kergetünk, soha nem érhetünk el, de ha leülünk csendben, leereszkedik ránk.” – Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.

Luca pillángo – Luca butterfly: 6.600 forint

“Virágoznak an fák.”
We plant trees, we plant life, love and hope. During walking and looking at the blooming flowers, we got the idea to name these babies with the familiar things around us that we can see from the fields to the markets and inside our kitchen. You can hang them on your wall, feed them the plants and you will see green grow up from their mouths.

Körte hal – Pear fish: 14.000 forint

Cseresznye rák – Cherry shrimp: 11.000 forint

Personally, for me – the person who have taken the photos and written down things, turtles/tortoises are precious creatures. They connect to me with a sentimental love (of course I love other animals either, we have cat and dog home, just a bit bias of mine for turtle/tortoise). Sometimes you may see them visit me in our store. If you don’t meet them, don’t be upset, you can meet “Alma” and “Mandula” instead.

Our frog has some favorite items which he often carries with him. One of them is a leaf that was made from bamboo, which he uses to place fruits or whatever he wants

We remember that during our childhood, we didn’t become friends with the swimming ducks or the small snails, we were happy to get a wooden fish and called them with any names we could think about, carried them around and showed them to the other kids. We still love them like the first time, now they remind us “Don’t forget to drink water, stay hydrated” – “Hidratálja magát” whenever we look at them. Fishes love water.

Fa hal – Wooden fish: 1.900 forint

For our childhood time, the floating cloud looked so fantasy, lovely and mysterious. We lay our dreams up there for our adult time, and we work hard to make them become true day by day. “Every cloud has a silver lining.” – the cloud stands for our hope and effort.

Felhő tálca – Wooden cloud tray: 7.600 forint

When we lived with our parents, we often stayed around our mother in the kitchen. She didn’t let us cook because we were too small, but she always gave us some chances to help her by washing the vegetable or preparing a trivet on the table so she could bring the hot rice pot and place directly there.

Kacsa edényalátét – Duck trivet: 4.400 forint

Hal edényalátét – Fish trivet: 3.100 forint

“Neked énekelünk” – “We sing for you”. The potter, who makes this cute ashtray, told me that he learnt everything about pottery from his grandfather, and this birdie was among his favorite lessons. Fun fact, he shared a small story to me that since his daughter was born, he has smoked only one cigarette per day after a long working day.

Madár hamutartó – Birdie ashtray: 4.000 forint

The color of this tea set evoked memories and nostalgia inside us. Inside a corner of our heart, there was our father drinking tea with his friends while our dogs were playing around.

Sütőtök csésze – Pumpkin tea cup: 1.200 forint

A simple unfussy design and a sentimental feeling for the old things was our first impression of this small bowl. Sometimes we have a hard day, then we are home again and have dinner with our family, it’s everything.

Sütőtök tál – Pumpkin bowl: 2.500 forint

There were sleeping days on the hammock with ambient nature sound from the backyard chickens. We were wakened up by the smell from the dining table (and our mother’s voice).

Pipi kis tányér – Chicken small dish: 3.100 forint

Pipi nagy tál – Chicken big bowl: 9.600 forint

The potters used the chicken as the main theme for this holder to show their intense connection to ordinary things close to them. We can use it as a utensil holder or a creative vase, whatever you can think about.

Pipi tartó – Chicken holder: 13.000 forint

We let a seed enter our heart and it becomes a flower. We choose to bloom, we bloom for you.

Flowers have a language of their own. The artists spend many hours, many days to listen their sound, they place their wholehearted love and emotion within their work with a simple wish of bringing gentle beauty into life.

Virágok doboz – Flowers box: 10.500 forint

There are days when you just need a cozy corner. May peace be found in your heart, the flowers still blossom.
